09/09/06
At around 0900hrs, 2 men were spotted in potential danger on marshland on the Penclawdd side of the Estuary. The boat was requested by Swansea coastguard to launch and investigate. After navigating one of the 'pills', the crew located the men and established that they were fully conversant with local conditions. They were in no danger from the rising tide and the crew were stood down.

The boat was launched in the early evening after being paged by the Coastguard. The initial call to the emergency services was regarding a horse in distressed state, stuck in the mud, near high water on a spring tide. The crew proceeded upstream to the Broadoak tip area and carried out an assessment. The horse was not one of the regular 'marsh ponies' and was cut off by the tide. However, it appeared to be relatively calm, and would be safe provided it remained stationary until the tide ebbed. Consultation with on-scene RSPCA officers confirmed this. After updating the Coastguard, the crew returned to station and stood down.
