09 September 2009
At 23.01 the crews pagers sounded for immediate launch. A female
has been reported missing and had possibly entered the water.
The Lifeboat launched and was sent towards Salthouse point near
Penclawdd to commence a search. However after 25 minutes, all
units were stood down as the person was found safe and well
ashore. The Lifeboat was refuelled and ready for service at
23.55
Other units involved were Loughor Mobile with the Police
Helicopter (X99) and Police ground units from Dyfed Powys and
South Wales.

2009
As the Lifeboat was providing cover for the raft race at the
annual Penclawdd festival of the tides, Crew member Lucy
Mansfield who was ashore at the time spotted a young child fall
into the river, she was able to contact the crew who were able
to reach the child and administer first aid, Another crew
member contacted the ambulance service as the child was showing
signs of Hypothermia. When the emergency ambulance arrived they
treated the child and the Lifeboat returned to the raft race.

Loughor Lifeboat crew were woken from their beds by the pagers
alerting them to a vessel broken down off Salthouse point near
Penclawdd. launching with 5 crew on board, the Lifeboat was
alongside the casualty within 15 minutes of the call, finding a
fishing vessel with 2 persons on board at anchor suffering from
engine failure. A crew member from the Lifeboat was put onboard
the casualty vessel to assist with the tow and the vessel was
taken back up the narrow channel to its mooring at Penclawdd.
Once the vessel was secure on its mooring the Lifeboat then
returned to station. It was ready for service at 05.00

The crew of Loughor Inshore Lifeboat launched both the IRB,
Auxiliary boat and also shore crew to assist in the search for a
missing person from the Gorseinon area. After 2 hours searching,
all units were stood down as the person had been found safe and
well on land.
24 May 2009 18.00
As the lifeboat was booking out on exercise with Swansea
Coastguard, the Lifeboat was informed that Burry port RNLI
Lifeboat had been paged to the report of a person cut off by the
tide at the North dock, Llanelli. Swansea Coastguard asked
Loughor IRB to also attend. As the Lifeboat passes the golf
course at Machynys point, Swansea Coastguard informed them they
could stand down as Burry Port RNLI had recovered the Casualty.

2009
Paged to launch by Swansea Coastguard at 2015hrs.
Reports of a 'canoeist' overdue.
He had left Burry Port and overran his ETA at Loughor. The
canoeist became disorientated eventually running out of water
due to the dropping tide. Other units included: Burry Port
Lifeboat, Loughor and Burry Port CRT's and RAF Chivenor (rescue
169). After a search in the darkness a rather muddy canoeist
was located having managed to make shore at Penclawdd.
Following treatment and assessment, he left for home 2hrs 15
mins after initial page.
27th January 2009
Paged by Swansea Coastguard at approx. 22:10 in response to
reports of a missing person with potential to enter the water.
IRB launched on an ebbing tide consequently water depth was low
and dropping. After a 50 minute search and having received
reports of sightings of the missing person on land, the IRB
returned to station. RAF Chivenor, Loughor and Burry Port
auxiliary coastguards were also involved with the search.
