Fund Raising
Fundraising is in full
swing. The current lifeboat "Community Spirit II" is due for
renewal mid 2008. This is necessary to comply with
Coastguard regulations which are designed to ensure that
casualties and crew have equipment that is fit for purpose.
Loughor Inshore Rescue
Boat is an independent lifeboat charity that relies on the
generosity of people, mainly in the Loughor Estuary area, to
keep it operational. We receive no financial support from
the MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency) or RNLI (Royal National
Lifeboat Institution) although we are a 'declared' inshore
lifeboat facility the same as RNLI inshore lifeboats, and
work closely with both organisations in this area.
Recent fundraising events
include:
Llanelli Carnival Parade:
on 21st November 2008 we attended the Llanelli Town
Carnival, We were there to show people who we are and to
raise the profile of our service.
Marshalling a flounder festival:
With wide-spread support from the local fishing fraternity. Our
heartfelt thanks to the competitors and sponsors for their
generosity. Over £4,000 went into the new boat fund.
Santa at Wyevale:
From mid November 2006, the crew 'assisted' Santa in his
grotto at Wyevale garden centre. This required a huge
commitment to ensure that the grotto was operational every
Saturday and Sunday for six weekends. The reward was over
£7,000 which contributed to the new boat fund. Thanks to
Wyevale for the opportunity, the crew, and to the friends of
Loughor inshore (especially Leighton and John) for their
support.
Collection days:
Were held at St Elli Centre Llanelli and Somerfield
Gorseinon. The public were able to see the boat, meet the
crew and make a donation. The combined total was £1,700.
Thanks to the people of Gorseinon and Llanelli and the
management at both sites.
Regatta:
Summertime in Loughor is Regatta time. The annual Loughor
Boating Club Regatta supported the lifeboat to the tune of
£500. It also managed to support the air ambulance and 2
other charities too! A BIG thank you to The Boating Club,
Regatta committee and everyone who supported the charities
on the day.
Other support came from:
The 'friends of Loughor Inshore'
Country Stores, Gowerton
The parish of Loughor
Corus Trostre
Dunvant line dancing
The Reverend James
North Gower Hotel

To keep our station
running costs around £25,000 per year, and because we are a
charity we are not allowed to directly ask for any money
from the people we assist. We are on call 24 hours per day
365 days per year, to help persons in distress.
We depend on you, so
please help us. Remember every little helps to keep us
providing a service to the public.
If you would like to
make a donation, or would like further information on the
work that we do, please contact us at the following address:
